WELCOME TO DEMENTIA TRAINING IRELAND, PROVIDING QUALITY TRAINING SINCE 2007

Quality dementia care requires a philosophical approach that emphasises person-centred care.  Within this approach, each person is valued for their individual worth rather than the disabling aspects of their disease.

Dementia is a multi-faceted disease and staff training must consider all aspects including; 'the experience of people with dementia', 'the aetiology of dementia', 'the connection between brain and behaviour' and the essential 'positive communication approaches'.

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards of 2008 recommend the following:

"Staff are trained in and understand the communication difficulties that residents experience and are trained in and make every effort to support and facilitate residents' communication (verbal and nonverbal) needs in an individualised manner."

Dementia Training Ireland will provide 'in-house' training for all staff working in this area.  Their experiential approach makes learning fun and accesible.
